Amnesty International Hong Kong was officially established in 1982, and it has been fighting for Human Rights for 35 years bravely.
Over these 35 years, we have encountered many human rights defenders, voiced out bravely, and fight for human rights in Hong Kong

BE BRAVE AND STAND FOR THE TRUTHAmnesty International gives helpless people hope.
I would naturally wish that there will always be press freedom. Press freedom is the basis
for all protection because legislation cannot protect us against all forms of human rights abuses.
Yet, the existence of press freedom can expose any abuse to truly provide protection.
For instance in Hong Kong, although we do not have democracy in the electoral system,
our order has not totally failed as we have press freedom to make up for the deficiencies
in our lack of democracy.CHING CHEONG - COMMENTATOR

BE BRAVE WITH ARTSI support Amnesty international because it has a strong voice as a non-governmental organisation
to monitor human rights at the international arena. International scrutiny is important to Hong Kong
since the human rights situation in Hong Kong is increasingly indistinct, "mainlandised"
as well as getting worse. So, I take actions through art to support Amnesty International Hong Kong
to voice out for local human rights issues.DR. KACEY WONG - ACTIVIST. ARTIST

BE BEAVE IN OUR WAYI started my journey with Amnesty International since I was in the
university in the UK. I actively participated in the university AI club
there, and push forward various human rights issues, with a hope that
more people would stand with us to fight for human rights.
I also worked as an intern in AIHK during my summer vacation, and
assist in the human rights education. I come back to Hong Kong
after graduation, and I joined a lot of activities of AIHK, and
encouraged my friends to join as well!
The effort of one person is limited, but if everyone can do one’s bit,
to spread the message and to act, it can be powerful.COSMO LO - YOUNG WORKING ADULT

BE BEAVE AND PASS IT ONAngela was the first human rights education officer of Amnesty International Hong Kong.
Together with the chairperson Robyn Kilpatrick at that time, they introduced the
‘Human Rights Press Awards’ to Hong Kong.
‘Human rights education and the Human Rights Press Awards are complementary.
Reporters report at the frontline, while teachers teach students according to what is
presented in the media. This is the most direct example of media in education.ANGELA LEE - FORMER HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION OFFICER

BE BRAVE WITH MY STRENGTHI cannot find many organisations who are willing to speak up for the public and fight for
their rights like Amnesty International. Especially in this age, people are less eager to
speak for others. Amnesty International still works very hard to defend everyone’s rights.
That is why I support Amnesty International.
Coincidentally, my friends introduced me to AIHK, and I started my journey with them.
I have been working with AIHK for graphic designs, including the ‘Human Rights’ magazines.
My designs are inspired by the theme of the magazine and making each cover
‘Human Rights’ magazine distinct. All of the issues are remarkable to me.GARY TONG - TGIF FOUNDER AND DESIGN DIRECTOR

YOUTH CAN BE BRAVE TOOAmnesty International provides me with a platform to learn more about global affairs.
In my freshman year, I wanted to know more about different social issues.
Hence, I participated in various activities organised by Amnesty International Hong Kong
including film screenings, IDAHOT, the University AI Club and the AIHK Speakers' Team Training.
After knowing AIHK, I would try to add some human rights-related elements in daily life.
Let me take LGBTI rights as an example. It is often assumed that everyone is heterosexual.
It is not unusual that people unconsciously ask their female friends "Do you have a boyfriend?"
But this would make people with different sexual orientations feel uneasy. Thus, I will be
more sensitive about my words. Through this, I strive to create an LGBTI friendly environment.ELIZ WONG - POSTGRADUATE
